Hanoi honours outstanding students

Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam has congratulated 98 outstanding students who achieved top results in the city's university and academy graduation exams at a meeting held in Hanoi.

The students are also enthusiastic Youth union cadres and have made positive contributions to social activities. Many of them come from poor families or policy beneficiary families.

Deputy PM Dam stressed that the Party, State and Government always attach special attention to caring for the youth and students in particular by providing them with favourable conditions to support their talents and intellectual pursuits.

He expressed his hope that the students would nurture their ambition for success in life and strive to become good citizens.

In the evening the same day, the Hanoi People's Committee held a ceremony at the Temple of Literature to honour the outstanding students.

Speaking at the event, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee, Vu Hong Khanh affirmed that the honourees were high-quality human resources of the capital and the country.

While emphasising the appreciation and support of Hanoi’s authorities for the talented students, he expressed his hope that the students would strive to make more contributions to the capital and the country’s development.

The event was the 13th of its kind hosted by the Hanoi authorities with nearly 1,400 students having been honoured over the past 12 years.
