Hanoi authorities press for investigation of illegal use of State land

Hanoi’s vice chairman, Vu Hong Khanh, has asked the city’s department of construction to look into the illegal leasing of a state-owned houses.

Hanoi’s vice chairman, Vu Hong Khanh, has asked the city’s department of construction to look into the illegal leasing of a state-owned houses, recently been reported on Dan Tri/Dtinews.

Reporters discovered that the director of Hanoi Housing Management and Development Corporation, Nguyen Duc Son, leased a 239-square-metre house at No. 80 Hang Gai Street under the name of the Trading Production and Labour - Force Export Company Ltd. (VINAHANDCOOP) at VND 21.4 million (USD1,026) a month. The contract term was from January 1, 2009 to January 1, 2014.


One of the stipulations of the contract was that the property could not be mortgaged or used for business purposes with any third party.


However, on February 11th, 2011, the general director of VINAHANDCOOP, Do Viet Hung, signed another contract with Ocean International Investment Joint Stock Company, agreeing to lease the house to them for VND 2.380 billion (USD114,039).


The department of construction has been ordered to promptly investigate and send a report to municipal authorities. DTiNews will give updates as the case progresses.
