Haiphong airport closed due to storm Wipha

Cat Bi International Airport in the northern port city of Haiphong has shut down for one day because of the approaching Storm Wipha.

The closure has been applied from 12:00 on August 2 to 12:00 on August 3.

National flag carrier Vietnam Airlines and budget carrier Vietjet have announced to reschedule and cancel their flights from and to Cat Bi International Airport in Haiphong City and Van Don International Airport Quang Ninh Province to ensure safety amid the typhoon.

Vietnam Airlines cancelled flights VN1186, VN1189, VN1192, VN1193 and VN1194 today, August 2. Flights VN1184 and VN1187 left earlier than usual to ensure they landed at Cat Bi before midday.

Flights VN1672 and VN1673 from Danang to Haiphong and VN1286 and VN1287 from HCM City to Van Don were also cancelled.

On August 3, Vietnam Airlines will cancel flight VN1181 from HCM City to Haiphong. Flights VN1180 and VN1183 at Cat Bi International Airport will be delayed for around five hours.

Vietnam Airlines advise passengers who plan to take flights from or to airports in Haiphong, Van Don and Vinh need to update weather and flight information.

Meanwhile, Vietjet has cancelled 11 flights on August 2, including VJ905/906 on Haiphong- Bangkok- Haiphong, and VJ276/277/278/283 to HCM City-Haiphong-HCM City.
