A hail storm occurs in Lai Chau Province on January 17.
According to a report from Thu Lum Commune People's Committee, hail and whirlwinds swept through the commune at around 7am on January 17 for some 15 minutes. Hailstones with diameters between 1-2 cm were found.
Some 1.50 hectares of plants had been damaged during the hail storm, the report said. Luckily there were no human fatalities.
A large area of plants are damaged in the hail storm.
Hail storms usually occur in some northern and northern central localities in March but it seems to arrive in Son La earlier this year. Local people have been warned about hail storms and whirlwinds during the period between spring to summer.
