Jerry Lim, director of Grab in Vietnam, confirmed that they have increased the fares by 25% since late 2017

Lim said at a press conference on May 9 that the minimum fare increased from VND20,000 to VND25,000 after receiving drivers' complaints that petrol prices had been increased by five to six times. He went on to say that they had already sent out e-mail notifications, however, many customers said they hadn't received anything.

According to Lim, only the minimum fare was increased, the charges per kilometre remain unchanged. Grab is also considering applying cancellation fee which was used by Uber previously as they have also received many complaints from drivers.

Many drivers protested when Grab increased drivers' fare share from 15% to 28.3% last September. Lim said they would consider reducing the fare share to 20% for seasoned drivers or those with achievements. They will return the personal income tax to drivers if their total annual income is below VND100m (USD4,000).
