Nguyen Kha Han, a Grade 3 student has become the pillar of the family. She and her father Nguyen Van Han, 38, are living in a deteriorated house in Dien Hai Commune.

Han’s father was paralysed when he was small. Meanwhile, her mother left home without saying a word when she was just a few months old. The small girl and her father used to depend on her grandparents until they recently died. And now she is the only person to care for her father.
Every day, the father and daughter mostly live on the support of their neighbours. After school, she has to do household chores and support her father.
"I want to go to school and have money to cover my father’s treatment,” Han said.
Ngo Minh Dang, vice chairman of Dien Hai Commune, said that Han’s family is the poorest in the locality.
Dang hoped that people could help ease the family’s difficulties.
