People have donated many useable clothes, shoes, bags, books and other items to the stall.
The stall establishment was initiated by hospital director Dr Nguyen Tri Thuc after seeing the situation facing some of the poorest patients.
Each patient can select 1-2 items from the stall
Chau Thi Loi said that his son had been burnt in a fire and was immediately taken to Cho Ray Hospital. So she hadn’t brought enough clothes to the hospital. The weather has become quite cold at night in HCM City, but she did not have enough money to buy new clothes. So she was happy to have free clothes from the stall.
There are different kinds of books at the booth, including those about psychology and health, which have proved popular with many patients.
Doctor Le Minh Hien said that books about cancer were seen as a good way to help patients understand more about their disease. The books include how the patients can try to take care of themselves and better follow their treatment.
Lots of the hospital staff have donated to the stall. All the clothes have been carefully washed before being given to patients.
The hospital hopes to receive more donations.
