According to local officials, a family group of about six people had travelled to the upper reaches of the river for a recreational outing. During the trip, they used a small boat to move across the river when it unexpectedly capsized.
Those who survived immediately sought help from nearby residents. However, the accident site was located in a section of the river with deep water and complex currents, making rescue efforts extremely difficult.
The victims were identified as a 35-year-old woman, her five-year-old daughter, and two other children aged 10 and 12.
Following the incident, local authorities and emergency responders launched a search and recovery operation. All four victims were later recovered and brought ashore.
Officials are supporting the family with funeral arrangements while authorities continue to review the circumstances surrounding the accident.
The Ngan Pho River flows through mountainous areas of Ha Tinh Province, where water levels and currents can become hazardous, particularly in deeper sections of the river.
