According to the National Steering Committee for Natural Disasters Prevention and Control, by 6 pm on Tuesday, flooding had killed four people, including one in Kon Tum and three in Binh Dinh, and damaged eight houses. Meanwhile, up to 23,605 houses and hundreds of hectares of rice and crops were submerged.

Many roads in Quang Nam, Binh Dinh and Phu Yen provinces have been eroded, including national highways 1, 29, 641 and 645.

Phu Yen faces the severe flooding


According to the National Centre for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting, the water level on many rivers in Phu Yen and Khanh Hoa provinces has been on the rise.

Flash floods and landslides have been warned for localities from Quang Nam to Khanh Hoa as well as the Central Highlands region.

Localities have been asked to keep close eyes on areas at high risk of being inundated to protect local residents.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and the Environment needs to monitor weather information continuously for the public.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade has been urged to ensure the safety of hydropower reservoirs and closely cooperate with local authorities to inform people when discharging water.
