
The suspects were duly identified as Phit Samay Colarat, 24, residing at Kaysone Phomvihane in Savannakhet province; Nuta My Say, 29; Thip Lat Da But Sa Lat, 23; Bun Suleovan, 47; and Leo Van, 30; all of whom had been residing in the Laotian capital city of Vientiane.
According to details of the arrests, on May 23 law enforcement authorities stopped a suspicious car with a Laotian number plate when it was travelling on National Highway 15 of La Lay village in A Ngo commune of Dakrong district in Quang Tri province.
Upon performing a search of the vehicle, police discovered a total of 100 cakes of heroin and other exhibits.
The Laotian suspects all admitted that they had been hired to transport the drugs from Laos into the country through La Lay International Border Gate in exchange for a fee of US$6,000.
The case is currently under further investigation.
