Despite the severe cold weather, farmers in Phu Tho Province’s Ha Hoa District have returned to their fields to cultivate new crop after long anticipated water supplies.
In early January 2012, leaders of the provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development requested irrigation agencies to hoard water to prepare for the winter-spring crop.
The state-owned Electricity of Vietnam Group (EVN) released water to serve agricultural cultivation from Hoa Binh, Thac Ba and Na Hang dams over the first phase from January 16-22.
While more fortunate people are still enjoying lazy days following Tet, these farmers have to work in piercing cold.
