Eight people are killed and seven other injured when a truck ran into a group of pedestrians in Hai Duong Province on January 21
The accident occurred at around 2:00 pm when the truck suddenly slammed into the people who were walking on the roadside of National Highway 5A at Kim Luong Commune, Kim Thanh District.

Seven people died on the spot and one died shortly after being hospitalised. Seven others are being treated at a local hospital.
Vu Ngoc Uong, chairman of Kim Luong Commune People’s Committee, said that the victims were mostly officials at the commune's agencies and they were on the way home after visiting a nearby war martyrs' cemetery when the accident occurred.
The truck is damaged in the accident
Being informed of the case, Deputy Prime Minister, chairman of the National Committee for Traffic Safety Truong Hoa Binh expressed his condolences to the victim family. He urged best efforts to save injured people.
