Another storm is expected in the East Sea next week, said Hoang Phuc Lam, deputy director of the National Centre for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting.

A tropical depression appeared in the East Sea on Tuesday morning. It began skirting the Philippines on July 19-20 and would develop into a storm to ravage the East Sea from July 24.

Lam added that due to the impact of Storm Talim, the northern region is facing rain and this would last until July 21. Some northern rivers, including the Thuong, Luc Nam, Chay and Lo, have seen rising water levels.

Warnings of flash floods and landslides have been issued in northern mountainous localities such as Cao Bang, Lang Son, Ha Giang and Thai Nguyen.

Hanoi would witness rain until July 21, with temperatures of 24-31 degrees centigrade.

The rainy weather is also predicted to affect the northern central, Central Highlands and southern localities on July 19-21.
