On February 13, traffic police stopped the coach on the Noi Bai-Lao Cai Expressway in northern Vietnam after receiving a public tip-off.

The vehicle, driven by a 39-year-old man from Tuyen Quang Province, was operating a route of more than 300 kilometres when it was found to be overloaded.
The driver was fined VND 57 million and had four points deducted from his driving licence.
The vehicle’s owner, Tran Phu 2 Trading and Services Cooperative based in Tuyen Quang, was fined VND 150 million for allowing an employee to commit the violation. The cooperative’s fixed-route transport badge was also suspended for two months.
Police arranged another vehicle to carry the excess passengers after stopping the coach.
