Many streets in Dien Bien City are deeply flooded on August 3.

Speaking with Dantri/Dtinews Newspaper on Thursday morning, a representative from Muong Thanh Ward People's Committee said that the rain started from 6.30pm on August 2 and lasted until 3am on August 3.

"Many streets including Vo Nguyen Giap, Truong Chinh, and Hoang Van Thai, and some residential areas were put nearly one metre under water by early this morning," the representative said.

Local authorities had to block traffic on some deeply flooded streets.

Water flowed into many shops and houses along Vo Nguyen Giap Street.

Cars and motorbikes faced difficulties travelling through flooded streets.

According to the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, the north and northern central regions will continue to face heavy rains on August 3 with average rainfall of between 30 - 70mm per day. Floods and landslides may occur in lowland and mountainous areas.

Rain will gradually stop from August 4.
