Danang receives first flight from Taipei after pandemic

The central city of Danang on Friday morning received the first flight from Taipei (China) as the route was resumed after over two years of hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The flight operated by Starlux Airlines landed at Danang International Airport at 9.25 am with 171 passengers onboard.

Representatives of the Danang City Department of Tourism and the Danang Tourism Promotion Centre arrived at the airport to welcome the passengers.

Starlux Airlines' Chief Representative in Vietnam, Roger Yen said at the event that they planned to operate three weekly flights to Danang, each lasting 2 hours and 50 minutes. It is expected to increase the flight frequency from December to meet the rising travel demands.

Speaking at the event, Deputy Director of the Danang Tourism Promotion Centre Mai Thi Thanh Hai said that the resumption of direct flights from Taipei to Danang was a good signal for the city’s tourism sector to increase the number of tourists in the coming time.

Many tour agencies were available at the airport to receive their customers. Chinese tourists usually stay for a week and spend lots of time shopping and enjoying local foods.
