The central city of Danang attracted around 3.8 million tourists in the first six months of this year, triple the same period of last year.
According to the city’s Department of Tourism, the figure represented an on-year increase of 40 percent against the same phase of 2019 when the Covid-19 pandemic had not yet occurred.
Of this, foreigners accounted for 960,000.
The tourist surge brought the city a total revenue of USD314 million, doubling the first half of 2022.
After the pandemic, the city has strived to recover its tourism sector. So far this year, Danang has held many tourism activities, including the International Firework Festival which welcomed up to 321,000 travellers, including 104,000 foreigners.
The Summer Festival - Wow Da Nang is scheduled to take place from July 28 to August 1 with 11 activities, including a music gala with the participation of famous singers.
The locality has welcomed many MICE delegations with thousands of visitors since early this year. Danang has also joined the SATTE international tourism fair in India and hosted a number of tourism promotion schemes in Qatar, the UAE, and Osaka in Japan.
