The Da Nang city People’s Committee will spend over VND 19 billion (around US$900,000) from the local budget for gifts to social beneficiaries in the city during the upcoming lunar New Year (Tet) holiday.
The city authorities have allocated VND 10.1 billion to care for revolutionary veterans, former prisoners of the enemies, Vietnamese heroic mothers, war invalids and sick soldiers, as well as martyrs’ families, contributors to the revolution, young volunteers from the resistance wars for national salvation, and demobilised soldiers.
Nearly VND 7.7 billion will also be used to visit and present gifts to social centres, people living in difficult circumstances and offenders at the Hoa Son detention centre, and VND 20 million will be given to soldiers on the Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelago.
