Construction complete but mess left behind

Temporary shelters built in the middle of roads in HCM City have been left behind although they are no longer being used.

Temporary shelters built in the middle of roads in Ho Chi Minh City have been left behind although they are no longer being used.

The majority of these temporary shelters are standing on 3/2 and Ly Thuong Kiet roads.

Strangely, many were built but never used for any construction project.

The construction of a new waste-water drainage system and renovating the existing sewer under these two roads has been completed yet, these shelters are still standing right in the middle of the road.

The construction was an investment by the management board of the Ho Chi Minh City East-West Avenue & Water Environment project.

One small shelter which covers only 6 square metres is positioned right in the middle of the intersection between Road 3/2 and Le Dai Hanh Road.

Another shelter is still erected at the intersection of Road 3/2 and Ly Thuong Kiet Road with only a power generator occupying it.

There are others like the one on Ly Thuong Kiet Road. One, located in front of Phu Tho Gymnasium, looks like an official check point.

Although construction work is complete, the temporary shelters have not been removed, causing a traffic nuisance for drivers in the area.
