Nam Tra My District proposes building 15 hydropower plant projects.

In their proposal, sent on December 13 to the Quang Nam Provincial Department of Planning and Investment, Department of Industry and Trade, and concerned agencies, the Nam Tra My District People's Committee said that given their potential to develop renewable energy, more hydropower plant projects were essential to meet the rising power demand.

"We've considered 15 small and medium-sized projects, with capacities of 4-30 MW," the committee said.

Quang Nam has 40 hydropower projects with a total capacity of over 1,752MW, generating over 6,296 kWh annually. Of these, 30 are small and medium-sized projects with a total capacity of 547.56MW.

So far, 29 plants have been put into operation; six are still under construction, and another five are completing investment procedures.

The central province has removed six hydropower projects, including A Vuong 4, Song Bung 3, Dak Di 4, A Banh, Cha Val and Dak Pring 2, from its hydropower plant development planning due to legal issues and sluggish construction.

The provincial Departments of Industry and Trade and Planning and Investment have also been asked to work with the investors of the A Vuong 5 and Song Bung 3A hydropower projects to resolve the slow pace of construction.
