Da Lat People’s Committee has recently held a meeting with concerned agencies following severe inundation in the city.

The flooding in Da Lat on September 1.
According to local authorities, the discharge of waste into rivers, lakes, and streams has remained rampant. In addition, many drains are not regularly dredged. Illegal encroachment of construction sites into rivers and streams has also worsened the problem.
Meanwhile, some construction projects in the city have failed to keep pace with their schedules, affecting drainage.
Experts previously blamed the flooding in Da Lat for massive greenhouse development, rapid urbanisation, and deforestation. Many lakes in Da Lat have been filled in or drained or reduced to serve construction sites.
The municipal people’s committee has requested local wards and communes to set up task forces to investigate encroachment by construction sites. The city will also install cameras in areas where waste is often dumped to detect violations.
