Cat Ba hotels urged to offer discounts for typhoon-stranded tourists

Haiphong City's Cat Hai Special Zone authorities have called on lodging service providers to offer room prices to travellers stranded by Typhoon Kajiki.

As Typhoon Kajiki intensified, the Cat Hai Special Zone People’s Committee urged local tourism businesses to ensure the safety and rights of visitors.

Hotels and guesthouses have been encouraged to provide a discount of around 50 per cent for tourists caught by the storm, helping to promote Cat Ba-Cat Hai as a safe, friendly and responsible destination.

Typhoon Kajiki brings heavy rains for many localities in Haiphong City on August 25.

Haiphong has halted the Dong Bai-Cai Vieng ferry, the Cat Hai-Phu Long cable car, and all tourism activities on its coast and islands since 3 pm on August 24.

According to the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, Typhoon Kajiki is forecast to make landfall between southern Thanh Hoa and Ha Tinh from 4 to 7 pm today, August 25, with Nghe An expected to be the hardest hit.
