The 24-year old patient was diagnosed with A/H5N1 after returning from a trip to Malaysia.
On January 8, after two days of symptoms including runny nose, sore throat, vertigo and a high fever, she was admitted to the Hospital for Tropical Diseases.
After five days of treatment in an isolated ward, her conditions have improved.
Dr. Nguyen Thanh Truong, of the hospital that treated the patient, advises, “People should eat well-balanced and regular meals to maintain their immune systems. It’s also important to get regular flu vaccinations and to stay away from people who are showing symptoms of the disease. Also, you should keep up good hygienic practices, such as washing your hands and using antiseptic cleaning products to maintain a clean environment.”
