Binh Duong workers lose Tet bonus

Hundreds of workers in a company in the southern province of Binh Duong returned to work after a strike over the removal of their 13th month Tet salary bonus.

Hundreds of workers in a company in the southern province of Binh Duong returned to work after a strike over the removal of their 13th month Tet salary bonus.

The incident occurred at GRF Joint Stock Company in Tan Uyen City on July 5.

The firm recently reported that it had seen a sharp fall in orders so far this year due to the impact of the global economic recession. As a result the company will not pay the 13th month salary for its workers from next year, but will only retain the seniority bonus.

This year, the 13th-month salary will be halved.

This bonus will be reapplied when the company’s operations recover.

The Board of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs of Tan Uyen District and the company worked with employees and they agreed to return to work from today, July 6.
