Statistics from Bac Giang Department of Industry and Trade show that the province harvested 147,030 tonnes of litchi in the latest crops. Even though the output is smaller than in 2018, the total revenue increased to VND6.36trn (USD257m). This represented a 60-year high for Bac Giang Province litchi exports.

The average prices for a kilo of litchi range from VND30,000 (USD1.2) to VND60,000. At some point, litchi from Luc Ngan District could be sold for over VND70,000 per kilo. This price at major supermarkets in Vietnam like Big C and Vinmart is VND60,000.

Better quality fruit and packaging saw increased earnings.

Food ice storage facilities with 50 employees had to work all day in order to make enough ice for the market. Some plants had to invest millions of VND into new machinery but still couldn't meet demand. A bar of ice often costs VND35,000 to VND45,000 each but this price can go up to VND55,000 when there is a shortage.

China remains the top customer of Bac Giang's litchi. According to the management board of Dong Dang-Lang Son border gate economic zone, from June 7 to 13, the number of litchi trucks going through Tan Thanh Border Gate has increased to 150 trucks per day.

78,898 tonnes were sold to China this year, while 67,412 tonnes were consumed by local markets in various cities and provinces.
