Renowned photographer Ishikawa Bunyo displays the best of his American war images at an exhibition that opens today in Japan.

To mark the end of the war 40 years ago next year, Bunyo presents about 150 photos including those depicting American military bases in Okinawa, his home town.

The display entitled The Viet Nam War and Okinawa Bases will be held at the Japan Newspaper Museum in Yokohama City until December 21.

It will include talks and presentations that aim to convey a message about "the brutality of war and the importance of peace", according to a Vietnam News Agency correspondent.

The 76-year-old photographer also highlights the horrors Agent Orange victims suffered after the war.
