Vietnam reported an additional 31,814 Covid-19 infections on Tuesday, which is the highest daily infection tally reported so far in the country, according to the Ministry of Health.
According to the ministry's report, 31,787 of the new patients are locally-transmitted cases confirmed in 62 out of 63 localities in the country with five localities seeing the highest numbers including Hanoi (3,972), Hai Duong (1,807), Hai Phong (1,417), Nam Dinh (1,354), and Thai Nguyen (1,294). There were 27 imported cases confirmed the same day.
The new infections showed an increase of 2,384 cases compared to yesterday's figure. There were 22,870 infections found in the community.
As of Tuesday evening, 2,572,087 infections had been reported since the new outbreak occurred in the country in late April. Some localities that have recorded the highest number of patients include HCM City (516,477), Binh Duong (293,201), Hanoi (176,043), Dong Nai (100,141), and Tay Ninh (88,836). Vietnam has so far confirmed 198 Omicron-infected cases.
With these new infection cases, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 2,572,087. The country now stands 34th among 225 countries and territories worldwide in the number of infections.
On February 15, an additional 9,326 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to 2,242,273.
On Tuesday evening, a further 85 deaths related to Covid-19 were announced, bringing the total number of fatalities in Vietnam to 39,122. The high fatalities were reported in some localities including Hanoi (11), Khanh Hoa (9), HCM City (4), Quang Ngai (6), Binh Dinh (5), Danang (5), and Kien Giang (5).
Vietnam on February 14 administered 525,064 doses of Covid-19 vaccines. The country has so far conducted over 186.47 million Covid-19 vaccine shots, including over 74.76 million people having received two doses and over 32.48 million people having received three doses.
