Vietnam on Wednesday reported 3,088 more Covid-19 cases, 379 higher than the previous day, taking the tally to over 10.66 million, the Ministry of Health has said.
According to the ministry's report, most of the new patients are locally-transmitted cases confirmed in 48 out of 63 localities in the country with five localities seeing the highest numbers including Hanoi (705), Phu Tho (268), Vinh Phuc (198), Nghe An (133), and Quang Ninh (130).
As of Wednesday evening, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to nearly 10.66 million. The country now stands 12th among 227 countries and territories worldwide in the number of infections. Some localities that have recorded the highest number of patients include Hanoi (1,589,106), HCM City (608,531), Nghe An (482,088), Bac Giang (385,329), and Binh Duong (383,465).
On May 4, an additional 42,055 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to over 9,309,336 million.
On Wednesday evening, three deaths related to Covid-19 was announced in An Giang (1), Ben Tre (1), and Binh Duong (1), raising the total number of fatalities in Vietnam to 43,047.
More than 215 million Covid-19 vaccine doses have been administered nationwide.
