The owner was fined VND 7.5 million (USD 287) for violating regulations on the protection of wild animals.

The birds were seized following an inspection of the business in Ba Ria Ward on May 26 by forestry officers and local police.
Authorities found 45 red-whiskered bulbuls being kept at the premises, but documentation was available for only 10 of them. The remaining 35 birds were found to be of unverified origin.
The birds were temporarily seized pending investigation before authorities issued a decision to confiscate them.
