The device was detonated in Tuong Duong Commune by the provincial military command, with no injuries or damage reported.

The bomb was discovered on February 7 while a resident was digging foundations for a house.

It was later identified as an MK82 general-purpose bomb, measuring 40 centimetres in diameter and 1.4 metres in length, buried about 3.5 metres underground and still fitted with its detonator.

Residents and livestock were evacuated, warning signs were erected and the site was secured before the controlled detonation was carried out.
