Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Pham Thu Hang
Vietnam highly appreciates and welcomes the US’ recent decision to remove Cuba from the list of state sponsors of terrorism, along with other steps toward easing sanctions against Cuba, said Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Pham Thu Hang.
Hang was speaking on January 17 in response to reporters’ question regarding Vietnam’s reaction to the US decision three days ago.
Vietnam maintains a consistent stance of strongly supporting efforts toward the normalization of Cuba-US relations, including the complete lifting of the US embargo against Cuba, in line with relevant United Nations General Assembly resolutions, said the spokesperson.
Such a move meets the legitimate interests of the Cuban people and contributes to peace, stability, cooperation, and development in the Americas and the rest of the world, she stressed.
