At around 11.30 am on Thursday, a 29-seat bus descending Khanh Le Pass towards Nha Trang City experienced brake failure. The driver deliberately veered the vehicle into a cliff to avert a plunge into the ravine. At the time, dense fog heavily impaired visibility.

Local authorities quickly came to the scene to take the injured to hospital.
Besides the Chinese tourists and the driver, the bus also carried one tour guide.
Two of the tourists suffered severe injuries, while the rest sustained minor scratches and remained in stable condition.
Khanh Le Pass is a key route linking Khanh Hoa and Lam Dong provinces. The mountain, located 1,700 metres above sea level, has many sharp, winding curves that pose dangers for drivers.
