Frost has blanketed the high mountain peaks of Mu Cang Chai over the past two days as temperatures dropped below 3 degrees Celsius, according to Luong Van Thu, head of the district’s Board of Agriculture and Rural Development.
Trong Pao Sang, Khau Pha, and Khau Nha peaks in La Pan Tan Commune, along with Lung Cung Peak in Nam Co Commune, are now covered in frost.
The trees are cloaked in a pristine white, creating a breathtaking scene.
Nguyen Anh Duc, a local photographer, stated that this was the most intense and prolonged cold wave Mu Cang Chai had experienced in recent years.
The National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting predicted that northern regions will continue to endure severe cold, with freezing conditions in mountainous areas. Temperatures in high-altitude regions could drop below 3 degrees Celsius.
People in Yen Bai have been urged to take proactive measures to safeguard livestock and poultry from the cold.
