The ten houses cost around VND700 million (USD27,613). Thien Loc Phat Real Estate Trading and Services Joint Stock Company donated 100,000 bricks and ten fridges worth VND150 million for the houses.

The two districts mainly rely on agriculture, with many households struggling.

At the inauguration ceremony, Le Phuoc Ven, Vice Chairman of the Tan Thanh District People's Committee, expressed gratitude to donors and the newspaper for supporting disadvantaged households.

Journalist Nguyen Xuan Toan, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Dan Tri Newspaper, extended his heartfelt thanks to readers for assisting Dantri's charitable activities.

According to Toan, the newspaper's charity programmes have received strong community support and publicity over the past twenty years.

So far this year, the newspaper has built 74 houses for disadvantaged families in various localities across the country, 56 of which have been completed.

The move is aimed at responding to the government's objectives and the call from the Minister of Labour, Invalids, and Social Affairs, Dao Ngoc Dung, to eliminate temporary and dilapidated housing nationwide during the 2024-2025 period.

The newspaper's representative used the occasion to grant ten cash gifts, each worth VND1 million, to 10 disadvantaged households in the area on behalf of the paper's generous readers.

Vo Tan Ghi, 50, from Tan Thanh Commune, said his family was delighted to have a new house. Previously, they lived in a makeshift home with a dilapidated corrugated iron roof. Water would flood the house whenever it rained, turning the dirt floor into a sticky, muddy mess.
