Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense of Cambodia Tea Seiha
Minister of National Defense of Cambodia Tea Seiha and Lao Defense Minister Khamliang Outhakaysoneis started their official visits to Vietnam on December 18 at the invitation of Vietnamese Minister of National Defense Phan Van Giang.
During their stay in Vietnam, the two foreign officials will attend the Vietnam International Defense Exhibition 2024 and celebrations marking 80 years of the Vietnam People’s Army.
During his four-day visit, Cambodian General Tea Seiha will pay courtesy calls and engage in discussions with senior officials of the Ministry of National Defense of Vietnam. He will also meet with senior defense leaders from other countries invited to the expo to strengthen defense cooperation.
According to the Cambodian Ministry of National Defense, the visit will reaffirm the friendship, solidarity, and long-standing commitment between the Cambodian Ministry of National Defense, the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces, and the Vietnam People’s Army. It also aims to enhance and promote defense activities between the two countries.
The visit by Outhakaysone’s marks his first overseas trip as Minister of National Defense of Laos. The visit underscores Laos’ commitment to enhancing the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation with Vietnam. It aims to maintain high-level engagements, strengthen strategic trust, and contribute to the success of the Vietnam International Defense Expo 2024.

Bilateral defense cooperation between Vietnam and Laos has yielded practical and significant outcomes in recent years. Bilateral defense cooperation has expanded in scope and depth, including successful events like the second Vietnam-Laos Border Defense Friendship Exchange in October.
The Vietnam International Defense Exhibition 2024 is scheduled to take place in Hanoi from December 19 to 22, with the participation of 242 domestic and foreign exhibitors.
