According to Phu Quoc Express Joint Stock Company, the service was halted in November 2023 to address management issues. The company has now been authorised to restart operations on the route, with services expected to resume from April 10.

During peak season, the service will operate up to 10 trips per day, including five departures and five returns. In low season, it will run four daily trips, with two in each direction. Operations will depend on weather conditions to ensure maritime safety.

Phu Quoc Express has also introduced promotional policies, including a minimum 20 per cent reduction in ticket prices compared with previous levels, while committing to long-term price stability to support residents and tourists.

VIP tickets are priced at VND 216,000 (USD 9) per trip. Adult fares are VND 160,000, while tickets for children aged six to 11 cost VND 128,000.

The price cuts have been welcomed by residents and visitors travelling to and from Ly Son island.

Dang Van Tiep, a local resident, said other ferry operators currently charge VND 227,000 per adult ticket, which he described as too high for a journey of around 15 nautical miles. He added that the reduced fares from Phu Quoc Express would make travel to Ly Son island more accessible for both residents and tourists.
