This marks the Peace Boat's 120th global voyage, which departed from Yokohama, Japan, with Ha Long being its fourth stop.
The delegation includes representatives from organisations that received the Nobel Peace Prize in 2017 and 2024 and numerous experts and peace activists from across the Asia-Pacific region.
During their stay in Ha Long, the delegation will visit cultural sites, experience local cuisine, and participate in the Continuing Story of Peace Exchange Programme. This event brings together Vietnamese and international representatives to discuss global peace and security issues and to strengthen people-to-people cooperation.
The delegation will also host a special Time for Peace Project to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II. The project aims to raise global awareness of disarmament, conflict resolution, and the construction of a sustainable and peaceful world.
The Peace Boat's visit comes as Vietnam intensifies its efforts in people-to-people diplomacy and promotes the image of a peace-loving, friendly, and internationally integrated nation. The Peace Boat's arrival on the occasion of Vietnam's Reunification Day (April 30) further highlights the country's message of peace and its aspirations for development following the war.
In March 2025, a delegation from the Peace Boat organisation and associated travel agents surveyed Quang Ninh's cruise ship reception infrastructure, inspecting key tourist sites such as Ha Long Bay and Yen Duc village (Dong Trieu City). The delegation praised the province's thorough preparations, especially the professionalism in handling procedures and the capacity to welcome international guests.
The Peace Boat is an international non-governmental initiative based in Japan. Since its inception in 1983, it has been committed to promoting peace, human rights, and sustainable development through global voyages.
