Nearly 10,000 wild bird hunting traps seized in Thua Thien-Hue

Authorities in Phu Loc District in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue have seized up to 10,000 traps placed in many local areas for wild-bird hunting.

According to Le Ngoc Tuan, head of the Thua Thien-Hue Forest Protection Department, the department collaborated closely with relevant agencies to dismantle and destroy these traps on Friday.

The traps include foam decoys, glue-coated sticks and nets to capture wild birds in Loc Bon, Loc Son, and Loc An communes, and Lang Co Town.

On the same day, local authorities rescued and released 28 storks back into the wild.

In the annual flood season, flocks of wild birds, including storks, migrate to the thickets and wetlands of Phu Loc District to seek shelter. Notably, Lap An Lagoon at Lang Co Bay serves as a central hub for stork migration during this time."

However, this is also the season for wild bird hunting.
