Next Media has reached a deal with Lagardere Sports Asia to buy the exclusive broadcasting rights in Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and Myanmar. Both parties refused to release more information. There are rumours that Next Media has spent up to USD5m.

Next Media will be the exclusive broadcaster and distributor for the whole free and pay-TV system nationwide through satellite, cable, radio, internet and mobile broadcasting in Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and Myanmar.

"We can bring the tournament to all fans in Vietnam and the region. This is also a chance for us to confirm our capability and position in sports and digital communication in Southeast Asia," said a Next Media representative.

According to Vietnam Television, they already owned the broadcasting rights of the Olympic and Euro 2021 so they didn't pursuit the AFF Cup broadcasting rights too hard.

Vietnam will participate in some friendly matches in June before attending the World Cup 2022 Asia qualifying round in October and AFF Cup 2020 in late November.
