Earlier the girl, who is staying at the National Institute of Haematology & Blood Transfusion in Hanoi, was on the list of patients waiting for haematopoietic stem cell transplant which has a success rate of up to 80%. However, her family was too poor to cover it.

Tran Viet Thanh, the girl’s father, tried to borrow money from different sources but failed. His wife now has to take care of the two other children, one aged 11 months old and the other 11 years old. He even had to mortgage their house to get a banking loan VND200 million for the treatment.

After an article about her condition was published on Dantri/DTiNews, many readers assisted.

The donation of VND170 million (USD7,391) from the public has been granted to Van’s family.

The girl expressed her deep gratitude to people who have helped her and hoped that she could recover soon to return school.
