Many people cancelled tours to Sam Son
However, a large number of tourists have cancelled their trips. According to a hotel owner on Ho Xuan Huong Street, people who haven't cancelled include family groups and individual customers.
The owners said they had followed all preventive regulations like preparing face masks and hand wash. In order to prepare for the holiday, they had hired hundreds of employees and the cancellation rate would badly affect the businesses.
Bui Quoc Dat, vice chairman of Sam Son City People's Committee, said, "Statistics on April 29 show that 30% of tours to Sam Son has been cancelled. We have tightened monitoring and will suspend any business and individuals that violate the regulation. We want to make Sam Son a safe destination."
10,000 face masks have been bought to provide to tourist areas in the city.
Vuong Thi Hai Yen, deputy director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism said the occupancy rate in Sam Son for the holiday was 85%. But after the 30% cancellation, the holiday revenue of accommodation facilities will lose VND40bn (USD1.7m), VND160bn for food services and VND30bn for other services.
