Bat Trang Pottery Village in Hanoi’s Gia Lam District is struggling with severe flooding caused by Typhoon Yagi.

Bat Trang, located by the Red River, is home to around 8,000 people. The river’s high water level has caused flooding in the village.

Every corner of the locality is under water, and some areas are flooded up to two metres.

Pham Thi Hoai, vice party secretary of Bat Trang Commune, said Ba Trang has been experiencing floodwaters since the morning of September 11. On the same day, the power was cut.

Many stores were damaged, and items worth hundreds of millions of VND were destroyed. This is the worst flooding in Bat Trang for 22 years.

Gom Street, the most bustling area in Bat Trang, is seriously inundated.

Floodwaters have affected as many as 15 communes in Gia Lam District.

Many local families have made rafts, using foam boxes to travel.

Necessities have been provided to isolated households in Bat Trang. Earlier, local authorities relocated some households in Giao Cao 1 Village to ensure safety.

Besides Bat Trang, many areas near rivers in Hanoi are suffering from inundation.

Bat Trang boasts its centuries-old pottery-making tradition, being one of the most famous pottery hubs in the country.
