3,000 children in Nghe An get free heart examination
Children with a record of congenital heart diseases have been given a re-check. Children with disadvantaged backgrounds that are discovered to have heart diseases will be guided by Viettel's branch in Nghe An on how to apply for a free operation.
Dr Nguyen Ly Thinh Tuong, director of Children's Heart Centre, said early treatment would help the children return to normal life quicker.
The programme was organised by the military-run telecom Viettel’s branch in Nghe An, the Vietnamese Heart Fund of the Vietnam Television and doctors from the Children’s Heart Centre of Central Children’s Hospital, and Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital.
Since 2011, over 100,000 children in 46 provinces and cities have been given free examinations. More than 1,000 were found to have diseases and many disadvantaged children were given help in getting treatment.
