The second Vietnam International Choral Festival and Competition opened in Hue City on the evening of December 12.

Nearly 5,000 people attended the opening night in Hue
The event attracted the participation of 640 artists and members of art councils and panels of judges from nine countries including Germany, Hungary, France, Japan and Vietnam.
This was the last of a series of events that were part of the National Tourism Year Northern Central Coastal Area - Hue 2012 programme, co-organised by the Thua Thien – Hue provincial government and Germany’s Interkultur organisation.
Fourteen choirs from Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines and South Korea have joined the festival, together with three Vietnamese choirs from SOL Art and Education Development Joint Stock Company, National University of Art Education, and Hue Academy of Music.
Nearly 5,000 people attended the launching night at Hue Sports Centre.
German Prof Ralf Eisenbeiss, Director of Interkultur said “This is the second time when we’ve joined forces to organise such a festival to help foster music and art development in Vietnam. We expect the event will play a part in building bridges between people.”
Apart from competitions at Green Hotel in the city from December 13-14, artists have prepared performances for local people.
The awards ceremony will be organised on the afternoon of December 15.
