The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) announced on April 20 that they will hold a play-off to choose two teams to attend the coming finals which will be held in Lithuania from September 12 to October 3.

Due to Covid-19, the AFC Futsal Asian Cup was cancelled. As the result, the AFC decided to hold a play-off between Vietnam, Thailand, Iraq and Lebanon. Two teams with the best results will attend the Futsal World Cup along with Iran, Japan and Uzbekistan.

The Vietnam team was able to gather the members and trained twice last year, including a training camp in Spain. Moreover, the National Futsal Championship 2021 and Futsal Cup 2021 were still held amid the pandemic.

The team trained and hoped to get good results. The training board is reviewing and selecting the squad for the play-off.

The time, venue and competition format will be announced later.
