Authorities in Hue City have halted the Hue Traditional Craft Festival 2021 due to the ongoing Covid-19 outbreak.

Hue City issued an official document on May 26 ordering local authorities to halt the festival. Various events and activities have been prepared including Hue Food Festival, book exhibition, boat race on the Huong River and TED Talk about art and culture.

The festival was supposed to take place from May 29 to June 26 which is the longest festival yet to promote tourism, and would have included activity-packed weekends.

However, as the Covid-19 outbreak in Vietnam is still developing, the festival was halted. Hue People's Committee said when the outbreak was controlled, the festival would be rescheduled for late July.

Last year’s Hue Traditional Craft Festival was also halted due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
