
The Anh and Tra Giang acted as MCs
The presenters at the event were The Anh and Tra Giang, both well-known screen actors during the American War. Two younger artists, Duy Khanh and Giang My were also involved.
Minister of Culture-Sports and Tourism Hoang Tuan Anh, who is also Head of the Festival’s organizing board, said in his opening speech that this year's festival surpassed all previous ones in terms of entries and variety. “Private production companies were also welcome to make entries this year," he said.
The 17th Film Festival honoured some of the pioneers of Vietnamese cinema, including Tra Giang, Luong Duc, The Anh, Nhu Quynh, Khac Loi. On behalf of these veteran artists, Nhu Quynh expressed her gratitude to the Ministry for organising the event, calling it a great opportunity for them to share their exchange and share experience.
Senior director, Luu Trong Ninh, who has earned many awards at local and international film festivals, stressed the vital importance of renovation and integration in the development of the country’s film industry.
Director, Bui Thac Chuyen, shared that he was happy to see that Vietnamese films are attracting a larger audience.
Many singers including Phuong Thanh, Cam Van and Tan Minh also performed.
