Dau Van Duy Ha and his mother receives the donations on June 11.

Dantri readers contributed the amount to help cover the medical treatment of Ha, who suffers from a severe congenital skin condition.

The amount raised was transferred directly to Ha's mother, Dau Thi Ngan's bank account, to pay for her son's treatment. In addition, individuals and organisations independently sent a further VND 10 million (approximately USD 390) in support. The family has received over VND 223 million (around USD 8,770).

Speaking emotionally, Ngan said that after Dantri published an article on her son's health condition and financial difficulties, she received dozens of phone calls offering assistance.

"Some people advised me on where to seek reputable treatment, and others suggested medications to relieve my son's itching. Many sent money to help us afford the care he needs. The compassion readers have shown deeply touched me; it has given me strength and hope to continue fighting for my child's recovery," she said.

Ngan added that with the support she received, she could take her son to Bac Ninh Province for treatment. His condition has since improved significantly.

Ha, 13, was born with severe atopic dermatitis, which causes widespread ulcers, unbearable itching, and chronic insomnia. The condition has left him feeling ashamed and isolated, with a deep longing to one day return to school like other children.

His family faces dire financial hardship. Ngan has worked odd jobs across the region to afford treatment and even used the family's land title deed as collateral to cover medical costs. Following the death of her husband, she has carried the sole burden of caring for her ailing son and three school-age children. At one point, Ha's treatment was at risk of being suspended due to lack of funds.

"The donations from Dantri readers have been nothing short of a miracle, giving Ha the chance to continue his treatment and hope for recovery," he said. "We hope these meaningful contributions will continue to spread, bringing hope to more families in need nationwide."
