According to the group, the start of a new year has brought continued momentum to Southeast Asia’s aviation growth, as airports across the region have been seeing significant growth in terms of international seat capacity.

It shared that in January, Phu Quoc airport, which ranked at sixth place, took the spotlight with an impressive 185.2% growth rate, translating to over 108,000 additional seats.

“The highest percentage increase among the Southeast Asian airports reflects Phu Quoc’s rising popularity as a tropical destination, bolstered by new international routes and aggressive airline expansions,” Aviation A2Z noted.

Furthermore, Vietnam’s Noi Bai International Airport and Tan Son Nhat International Airport were placed at seventh and 10th place in the list, respectively. Noi Bai airport’s international seat capacity grew by 15%, adding over 106,000 seats this month.

“The capital city’s increasing connectivity with key markets in Asia has made it a pivotal gateway for both leisure and business travelers,” said the unit.

Meanwhile, Ho Chi Minh City’s Tan Son Nhat Airport added over 85,000 seats, posting a 7% increase.

“Vietnam’s economic growth and expanding international routes have bolstered the airport’s capacity to cater to a diverse range of travelers,” it concluded.

Rounding off the Top 10 was the likes of Bangkok Suvarnabhumi International Airport of Thailand, Kuala Lumpur International Airport of Malaysia, Singapore Changi Airport of Singapore, Bangkok Don Mueang International Airport of Thailand, Phuket International Airport of Thailand, Soekarno-Hatta International Airport of Indonesia, and Denpasar-Bali International Airport of Indonesia.
