Most goods at supermarkets in HCM City are now discounted by half, with some items even marked down by as much as 90 percent.

Supermarket staff worked tirelessly to replenish the shelves, but items were swiftly snapped up. According to a Satra representative, over 3,500 tonnes of goods had been stocked for Tet, up 30 percent against normal.
The buy-one-get-one-free promotion includes various items, including cooking oil, sausages, bottled water, candies, cashew nuts, and instant noodles.
The number of customers at supermarkets in HCM City has risen by 70 percent compared to regular days. The rate will be higher the week before Tet.
Many supermarkets have extended their operating hours and added more checkout counters to better serve customers.
The Pork Festival programme is underway at the GO!, Big C, and Tops Market supermarket chains. Various pork products are offered at enticing discounts of 20 percent to 45 percent.
Nguyen Thi Bich Van, a representative of Central Retail Vietnam, said that amid the current pork price surge, the firm has tried to offer the best prices for customers by minimizing intermediaries.
